Some scrappy trading in a variety of names although the only real volume went through in Sefalana (1330t).
Not a bad start to the week from an activity point of view in Nairobi with foreigners accounting for 75.7% of turnover. Safcom managed to close the day higher with the telco gaining +0.9% on foreign demand ahead of FY 2015 numbers due to be released on the 18th of March. KNCB also closed the day higher on foreign demand as the name gained +1.2% while EQBNK closed the day unchanged. A small bit of activity in EABL as 504k shares traded in the brewer.
An extremely quiet and soft start to the week in Port Louis. Most names were quiet and many names closed in the red, most notably MCBG which fell by 20bps to Rs210.50.
Much of the same on the first trading day of the week in Lagos with some activity in GTB ($1.8m) the only name worth mentioning. Banks managed to close in positive territory with the sector gaining +1.17% thanks to gains in Zenith (+4.45%) and FBNH (+2.71%). GTB closed the day +2.22% higher after posting FY 2015 results. Consumers (-1.35%) closed the day lower with pressure on 7UP (-5.00%) and NB (-3.00%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The ZSE gave back some of last week’s gains today. The bulk of today’s action took place in Innscor at the 18c level with the rest of the market extremely dull.
