Some activity in Turnstar and FNBB drove proceedings today as 1.7m shares and 334k shares changed hands in the names respectively.
It was a dull affair in Nairobi today with activity pretty evenly split betwen locals and foreigners. Foreign demand in EQBNK drove the name +1.2% higher as 3.1m shares changed hands. Banking counterpart KNCB closed the day unchanged as locals completely dominated purchases with 2.8m shares traded. Not much on the go in Safcom as the telco gained +0.6% on 5.3m shares.
Some activity in MCBG once again the only name worth mentioning as 62k shares changed hands in the counter while the rest of the market was dead quiet.
DangCem ($2.6m) was the driver behind today's activity thanks to some chunky crossing action while the heavyweight also weighed the market down and closed -2.38% lower. There was also some decent activity in Seplat ($2.1m), Zenith ($1.7m) and GTB ($1.3m). Banking stocks continue to struggle as the sector closed -1.09% lower thanks to FBNH (-5.14%) and Zenith (-2.79%). NB (+4.04%) helped push consumers higher as the sector gained +0.96%. The Nigerian Senate approved the N6.08trn budget.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Some pleasing action today in Harare although it was almost entirely in Delta (56.49c). The rest of the market was like a ghost town.
