A much better day in Gaborone thanks to crosses in BIHL and Letshego as 1.3m shares and 5m shares changed hands in the names respectively.
Locals remain absent from the Kenyan bourse with turnover amounting to a very dull $3.4m as foreigners ocntinue to dominate what little activity there is. Both major banking stocks closed the day lower with EQBNK falling -1.9% while KNCB fell -2.3% and were the most active counters on the day as 2.7m shares and 2m shares changed hands in the names respectively. Not much on the go in Safcom as 1.5m shares traded.
Aside from small activity in SBMH (4.6m shares) and NMH (183k shares), there was once again nothing to report from Port Louis.
Activity continues to underwhelm in Lagos as most market participants seem to still be on holiday. There was a small bit of activity in GTB ($2.3m), Stanbic ($1.2m) and NB ($1m). Banks closed lower with the sector falling -2.05% thanks to Access (-4.98%) and UBA (-4.85%). Consumers (-1.27%) also closed lower with NB (-2.59%) and 7UP (-1.92%) dragging the sector lower. DangCem (+4.27%) closed the day higher after a few days of taking some serious strain.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
An active day in Harare although the index took another pummeling. The major action today took place in Delta with the name falling to 68.02c on decent volume.
