Some action in Letshego the only name worth mentioning as 3m shares changed hands.
Another quiet day in Nairobi as foreigners continue to dominate. EABL was the most active counter on the day as 911k shares traded with foreigners dominating both sides. The brewer released H1 2016 results after the close with net sales increasing +8% while PAT increased by +16%. There was some action in KNCB as 3.7m shares traded while Safcom was very quiet as 3.5m shares changed hands in the telco.
The Port Louis bourse rallied hard today although please note it was on light volumes and the main reason for this was a massive 4.2% jump in NMH (Rs21.00) as well as a ridiculous 19.6% rise in IBL (Rs136.00). The reason for the IBL rally was the announcement that it may amalgamate with GML Investissement Ltee (the parent company).
Another very sluggish day in Lagos with some activity in GTB ($3.5m), Zenith ($1.9m) and NB ($1.5m) while the rest of the market was very quiet. Banks had a very good day with the sector gaining +3.30% thanks to strong moves in Access (+9.21%), UBA (+5.09%) and Zenith (+5.00%). Consumers (+0.81%) also closed the day higher thanks to Cadbury (+4.97%) and NB (+3.47%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
An absolutely pathetic day in Zimbabwe as things just seem to go from bad to worse.
