A better day in Gaborone but still nothing to write home about with some small activity in Sechaba and Turnstar.
Some decent crosses in Safcom and EABL helped boost activity on an otherwise dull day as 22.7m shares and 1.4m shares changed hands in the names respectively. Foreigners continue to dominate proceedings and accounted for 76% of total turnover as local investors remain on the sidelines. Both major banking stocks closed the day lower with EQBNK falling -0.6% while KNCB fell by -2.5%, both on low volume.
A better day in Port Louis with some action in SBMH (13m shares), MCBG (26k shares) and NMH (250k shares) driving proceedings.
Activity continues to underwhelm in Lagos with some small activity in Zenith ($2.3m) and GTB ($1.3m) the only names worth mentioning. We saw some buyers return to banking stocks today as the sector rebounded +0.54% with strong performances in the likes of Zenith (+6.11%) and Access (+4.74%). It remains to be seen if this is just bottom picking or if there is finally renewed interest in the sector. Consumers (-2.23%) struggled yet again with some serious weakness in Guinness (-9.61%) and Nestle (-3.98%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A better day in Harare thanks to some action in Delta ($382k) and Econet ($245k).
