Another active day in Gaborone thanks to some action in Choppies (2.3m shares), FNBB (2m shares) and Letshego (1.8m shares).
A better day in Nairobi in terms of activity, but volumes still remain very low as foreigners continue to dominate proceedings. There were a few foreign crosses in EABL (-1.4%) as 1.06m shares traded in the brewer. Safcom came under a bit of pressure with the telco falling -1.5% on 6.6m shares. EQBNK closed the day -0.6% lower on foreign selling pressure as 1.5m shares traded while KNCB (452k shares) was rather quiet.
An active day in Port Louis thanks to a foreign cross in SBMH (unch, Rs0.71). There was also some action in MCBG (-50bps, Rs205.00) while the rest of the market was relatively quiet.
A better day in Lagos but still nothing to write home about as most of the action was centered around GTB ($8.2m) thanks to a few crosses in the name while there was also some activity in 7UP ($1.2m). Banks continued to take a beating with the sector falling -3.07% as Zenith (-4.96%), ETI (-3.75%) and GTB (-3.63%) all came under pressure. Consumers (-1.66%) were also softer thanks to Cadbury (-4.97%), PZ Cussons (-4.86%) and NB (-3.97%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The ZSE still fell although volumes felt as if they were trying to return in the large caps like Delta (68c) and Econet (20.99c).
