The market sustained its bearish movement with foreigners accounting for 65% of total sales. Foreigners once again were dominating Safcom (-1.01%, KES24.50), Equity (unch, KES38.75) and EABL (unch, KES250.00), locals were selling if Kenol (unch, KES16.00). Safcom continued to be the most aggressively traded ticker accounting for 42% of the market.
Not the best day on the Mauritius bourse as all the indices finished the day in the red, total market turnover amounted to Rs39.6m with MCB (-0.7%, Rs285.00) being more than 50% of the market after releasing full year results 2016-17 on Friday night which showed less than expected increase in attributable profits. SBM (-1.3%, Rs7.80) following suit dropping after an article of was published on the suspension of three senior officials.
The lion's shares of today's activity took place in normally illiquid stocks RTG ($3.47m) and Powerspeed ($634k). RTG narrowed its half year loss from $2,9m last year to $300k and in a separate notice on Friday First Mutual Holdings Limited (FMHL) said it had reached an agreement for the disposal of its entire (19.9 percent) shareholding in RTG to its major shareholder, National Social Security Association (NSSA).Both the indices closed higher with the industrials +0.60% and the minings up 6.44%.
