Another quiet day in Gaborone to end the week with some small activity in FNBB ($30k).
The market continued its bearish trend with foreigners accounting for 65.8% of total sales. Foreigners once again were mainly involved in Safcom (unch, KES24.75), locals were taking positions in ARM (-1.00%, KES13.00), DTK (-0.49%, KES185.00) and CFC (-0.62%, KES79.50). Safcom continued to be the most actively traded counter accounting for 55% of today’s trade.
Both the Semdex and the Sem-10 closed the week up +16bps and +23bps respectively. Turnover was mostly geared towards two of the newly listed IBL Notes as well as MCBG (-1.1%, Rs280) in total making 77.7% of turnover .
At the close of trading today, the Nigerian equities market traded higher, as the NSE ASI closed the week with 153bps gains. The banking Index and consumer index closed in positive territory (+1.14%) and (+1.75%) respectively. A few notable counters worth mentioning on the day were transactions executed in Zenith (+1.34%, $3.2m), GTB (+1.12%, $1.5m), Access (+1.02%, $1.1m), FBNH (+5.26%, $1.0m) and Stanbic (+0.02%, $944k).

The industrial index clipped higher again today with gains in BATZ, Econet, OKZ and OML. Market turnover was mainly geared towards Axia ($1.1m) Simbisa ($1m) and Delta ($994k), the counters accounted for 76% of turnover.
