A quiet day in Gaborone, Letshego (unch, 197t) the only name worth mentioning taking up the lion’s share of the market.
The market was generally slow as thin trades were registered across the board. Equity (+1.4%, KES36.50) accounted for 45% of turnover on the back of foreign selling. Foreign participation declined to 49% from 83.3% yesterday.
The Semdex closed in the red for the second consecutive day falling 0.28% while turnover was decent geared towards corporate bonds IBL Notes and SUN Notes. MCBG was unchanged at Rs277.00, while SBMH inched up 0.5% to close at Rs7.84, following news that it intends to buy Chase Bank in Kenya. PBL was up +0.3% to Rs487.00 on a foreign purchase.
Another uneventful day in Lagos as most of the indices closed lower. Losses in Diamond (-4.76%, N1.00), Sterling (-3.81%, N1.01) and Fidelity (-1.43%,N1.38) depressed the banking sector index. While losses recorded in NB (-0.65%, N168.90) and Dangsugar (-0.22%, N13.77) depressed the consumer sector index. GTB ($1.6mn), Dangcem ($889k) and Zenith ($646k) were the most active names.

Delta (unch, $2.80) drove proceedings again in Harare today with turnover of $1.4m and Econet (+4.3%, $1.4550) also traded decent volumes, the two counters made up 66% of market turnover. The industrial index rose +1.25% following gains in Econet, FMHL, Hippo, OM and Natfoods. Foreginers were net sellers disposing shares worth $1.47m.
