Some small activity in Letshego the only name worth mentioning on an otherwise dull day in Gaborone.
A massive day in Nairobi today as investors didn’t seem to be deterred by the political instability in the country at the moment seeing Safcom (+1.04%, KES24.25) being almost half of total market turnover seeing foreigners dominate the counter. EABL (+1.67%, KES244.00), Jubilee (+1.87%, KES490.00) and KNCB (+0.68%, KES36.75) were the other major movers with a combined effort of more than 40% of earnings. Foreign participation on a whole accounted for 96% of total market purchases while the sales made up 68% on the day.
The indices opened the week in the red with the SEMDEX down (-0.1%) and the SEM-10 (-0.11%). Turnover driven by ENL, MCBG and SBMH altogether accounted for 73%.
At the close of trading today, bearish sentiments prevailed in the Nigerian equities market, as the NSE ASI opened the week with a 48bps loss to settle at 36,411.73 points. The Banking Index closed in negative territory declining 0.51% as the Consumer and the Industrial sectors shed -0.19% and -4.00% respectively seeing Intbrew advance 10% and Wapco decline 9.75% being the major movers. Access (+3.16%, N9.80) the only counter to break the $1m barrier, ZB (-3.42%, N25.10) and Dangcem (unch, N219.99) the major tickers that contributed to the bourse.

The industrial index slipped a marginal -0.18% on the back of some profit taking witnessed in some stocks today in Harare. Turnover was skewed towards a handful of securities including Econet ($4.6m) and FMP ($2.3m).
