Two names driving the Gaborone bourse today being BIHL ($41k) and Barclays ($16k), 67% and 26% respectively of total market turnover.
Turnover decreased by 40% from the previous day with the market continuing the downward trend. Safaricom dominated the action accounting for over 65% of turnover, as it closed 1% lower than the previous day.
A slight improvement on a weak day in Mauritius with all the indices closing mostly in the red as turnover amounted to Rs31.1m geared towards MCBG (unch, Rs274.50) making 62% of the market which was driven by foreign investors. The market was helped along by Medine (unch, Rs67.00) and SBM (+0.3%, Rs7.76).
The market continued its downward trend with only the Consumers and Industrials not closing lower. Guaranty accounted for 53% of turnover with 20m shares crossed in the name shortly after it announced its Q3 earnings. It was otherwise a pretty drab day.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
