Not a bad day at all in Gaborone today with a few counters driving the market, Letshego (unch, $4.67m) being 85% of total market turnover, Choppies (unch, $538k) and FPC (unch, $255k) accounting for a combined 14.6% of the value traded today.
Not a bad way to start the week on the Nairobi stock exchange with Safaricom (+1.01%, KES25.00) being almost 50% of the total market and the only name breaking the USD1m mark. Other names worth a mention were EABL (-1.21%, KES245.00), Equity (-2.70%, KES36.00) and BATK (unch, KES800.00). Foreigners accounted for 83.9% of market selling and 80.8% of the purchasing, once again dominating the bouse.
The Mauritius bourse saw almost all indices close the session in red with the Semdex falling 2,219.06 points as total market turnover was a poultry Rs53.9m for the day. MCBG declined -1.1% closing at Rs277.00, fighting a losing battle accounting for 52.5% of the market, SBM appreciated 0.5% trading at Rs7.80 and NMH unchanged @ Rs23.50 were the only names with some decent activity.
At the close of trading today, bullish sentiments prevailed in the equities market as the NSE ASI began the trading days of the week with a gain of 1.41pbs to settle at 36,831.93. All the indices closed in the positive territory. The banking sector (+1.32%) and the consumer sector index (+0.40%). Gains posted by Guaranty (+3.24%, N42.02) and Fidelity (+2.94%, N1.40) sustained the banking index. While Intbrew (+5.00%, N39.50), Flourmill (+4.97%, N27.87), UACN(+3.93%, N15.60) sustained the consumer index. Notable trades of the day were Zenith ($1.6mn), NB ($1.1mn), and Guaranty ($984k).

A chunky and bullish trade in Delta driving the market today on the Harare bourse. Delta ($3.1m) appreciated -0.03% to 280.00c and accounted for 81% of today’s volume. Innscor (179.00c, $246k) down 0.28%, OML (1,172.31c, $104k) up 15.41% and Seedco ($125k) was also up appreciating 0.34% at 288.00c.
