A pretty quiet day in Gaborone today.
With the re-election results coming out later today investors took a wait and see approach with a few big crosses, relatively speaking, in KCB (-0.65%, KES38.25) the only counter to break the $1m barrier accounting for 40% of total market turnover and Safcom (unch, KES25.25).
The Semdex and the SEM-10 opened the week southwards at -0.18% and -0.13% respectively. Turnover was skewed towards a handful of counters including MCBG (unch, Rs275.00) and it accounted for 52% of turnover. SBMH (-1.3%, Rs7.38) maintained its downtrend with intra-day low of Rs7.36.
A dull day in Nigeria as the financial sector held steady at 0.70% and consumers weakened 0.03%. Top gainers were Dangflour (+0.84%, N9.08) releasing amazing results this morning, and Cadbury (+0.45%, N11.00) and the most notable losers were Wapco (-.2.00%, N50.00) and Mansard (-0.07%, N1.95).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The market opened the week firmer with the Industrial Index closing 0.21% higher on the back of gains in Meikles (13.99%), OKZ (6.56%) and NMBZ (5.58%). Turnover was driven by Econet ($1.68m) OML ($360k) and ($357k).
