Another pretty dull day in Gaborone as just some trading in BIHL ($208k) and Choppies ($97k) took place. The rest of the other counters were extremely quiet.
A very quiet day in Kenya with the most active stocks in the market being KNCB which closed at KES40.50 (-0.61%) with $990k trading in the name, EABL (-0.80, KES249.00) and Safcom (unch, KES25.00). The rest of the counters were extremely quiet. Foreigners were the major drivers in the market staking a 75.1% claim in sales and 68.7% of total market purchases.
Activity was spread across the board today in Port Louis thought be it on small volumes. MCBG (-0.07%, Rs283.00), CIM (+3.5%, Rs9.48) and SBMH (unch, Rs7.76) being the major participants in the market. The other risers worth mentioning are MDIT dropping 0.6% to Rs4.75 on large volume and ENL Land unchanged @ 190bps at Rs45.00.
Things slowed down quite a bit on the Nigeria bourse today as investors had a slight mixed reactions with financials (+0.58%) and consumers (+0.03%). GTB (unch, N40.00) accounting for almost a quarter of today’s market turnover, while there was some semi-descent activity in ZB (+1.62%, N24.40) and UBA (+2.39%, N9.00).

The upward momentum continues in Harare as the industrial index edged up +1.27% with gains in Barclays (6.1%), Econet (4.6%) and PPC (3.2%). Innscor ($1.5m), Powerspeed ($567k), Econet ($460k) and Old Mutual ($332k) accounted for 78% of turnover. The mining index was also up +0.82%.
